Reasons and Decision

[1] For the reasons set out below, I am dismissing the appeal filed by the Claimant, R. M..

[2] The Claimant filed his appeal with the Tribunal in February 2018.

[3] A teleconference hearing was scheduled for October 25, 2018. The file shows that the notice of hearing was delivered to the Claimant’s address in September 2018.

[4] After sending the notice of hearing, the Tribunal learned that the Claimant had passed away on July 31, 2018.

[5] The Tribunal tried to get in touch with someone representing the Claimant’s estate by telephone and mail.

[6] The Tribunal called the Claimant’s telephone number but no one answered. At least one voicemail message was left.

[7] On October 9, 2018, the Tribunal sent a letter to the Claimant’s address. The letter set out what someone needed to do to continue the appeal. The file shows that the letter was delivered.

[8] No one contacted the Tribunal and no one attended the hearing on behalf of the Claimant’s estate. I adjourned the hearing.

[9] The Tribunal continued its efforts to find someone representing the Claimant’s estate.

[10] Another letter was sent on November 2, 2018. This letter repeated how someone could continue the appeal on behalf of the estate. It also explained that I would dismiss the appeal if no one came forward to represent the estate by August 1, 2019. The file shows that the letter was delivered.

[11] It has been more than a year since the Claimant’s death. As of today, no one has shown that they are authorized to represent the Claimant’s estate in this matter. No one has contacted the Tribunal or expressed any interest in continuing the appeal on behalf of the estate. As such, I have decided to dismiss the appeal.

[12] The appeal is dismissed.
